assorted brands
these are a handful of logos
Logos are the chocolate lava cakes of design. Everyone has them, but some are better for some reason.
At this point in graphic design, it’s hard to tell a great designer strictly based on logos in their portfolio. Many factors are baked into a GREAT logo, but not all of them pop on Behance and Dribbble. I am, BY NO MEANS, a great logo designer, but I do alright.
My Design Process
Design Brief
When I’m dealing with brands and building a design system, I always start with a basic conversation. I ask about the client’s goal, how they want to reach those goals, who their customers are, how their customers interact with the brand, etc. (you know all the questions.) This conversation is so important, so I try to help my client come prepared. I send references beforehand, set an agenda for the meeting, do my research on them before meeting them. There’s no game like the pregame 🤔 yeah, that’s not a saying, but I’m sticking with it.
What is success?
Winning your client’s trust is the absolute objective throughout this whole process. I know that I will bend over backwards to deliver for my clients, but it’s something different to have them know that. If they know you, as the designer, want what’s best for them, the project changes entirely. It’s not “I hope this sticks,” it becomes “I know the user will love this.” That buy-in, is everything in branding.
